Liberal feminism is an individualistic form of feminist theory. Feminism is feminism, right? Well, not quite.

Liberal feminists argue that society holds the false belief that women are, by nature, less intellectually and physically capable than men; thus it tends to discriminate against women in the academy, the forum, and the marketplace. This understanding of the concept of Feminism is entirely contrary to the original meaning.

Origin and Developments of Feminist Psychology The term feminism or feminists first appeared in France and Netherlands in 1872 (Offen, 1987) and migrated to Great Britain in 1890 and to USA in 1910 (Cott, 1987). The first chapter deals with the conceptual discussion on feminism. As a result independent women’s organisations began to emerge and the position of women improved. The third phase of Feminist movement in India started post-independence. Thus, it’s the need of the hour that the governments at National level promote feminism. Mahatma Gandhi incorporated women’s movements into Freedom struggle. The position of woman at that time period was nothing less than that of a puppet operated as per the whims and fancies of the man. Feminism has also freed men from the patriarchal oppression, just like women, men were also harmed by traditional gender roles. In the eloquent words of the pioneering first-wave feminist Mary Wollstonecraft; “the mind has no gender.” In the context of gender equality, liberal feminists advocate a society in which women hold political equality with men. It is because when women and men would live same standard of life with equal opportunities and rights, then only the mankind would progress and our country will move forward.Apart from this we also need to change the perception of people in general towards Feminism. The first phase began in the mid-eighteenth century wherein the male European colonists began to speak out against the existing social evils against women especially Sati practice.
Apart from that the present ruling party of our country has also appointed a number of female cabinet ministers.

Presently it’s the men who possess and own power and wealth.

In support with the native Hindu social reformers the Britishers abolished many such evil practices which curbed the fundamental rights of women. The second phase of the Feminist Movement in India lasted from 1915 to 1947, till the time of our country’s independence. The recent appointment of Justice Indira Banerjee as a Supreme Court judge was indeed a historic moment.

Mashrou' Leila: Roman – An Ode to Arab Feminism Independent band Mashrou' Leila used a social media-driven campaign to launch its new album in Lebanon and gain more international exposure. The present paper is divided into five chapters. The women’s rights movement in the late 19th and early 20th century. Her speech was written down and titled by an observer as First-wave feminists advocated for the educational and the legal equality of women, but their biggest focus and biggest success was women’s suffrage. After its passage, women’s rights receded into the background in favor of a focus on other reforms until after the end of the Second World War. She played an important role in the day to day affairs of both family and society. Isn’t it as simple as the political idea that men and women are equal? Things like these would not have been possible without the Feminist Movement. Firstly, women are rational individuals entitled to inalienable and universal human rights. It is because of the Feminist Movement that today women have the right to vote in modern day democracies; it is the courtesy of the Feminist Movement that today women have the right to hold the public offices. Further they believe that these men are more willing to share their power and money with other fellow men than women. The subconscious of our culture automatically associates “feminist” with “man-hating.” As a result today both women and men refuse to identify themselves as Feminist. Liberal feminism conceives of freedom as personal autonomy—living a life of one's own choosing—and political autonomy—being co-author of the conditions under which one lives. However, Indian women enjoyed a better position in the society during the Early Vedic age.
Three forms of feminism were discussed in the lesson: liberal feminism, socialist feminism, and radical feminism.
